Install on a Mac

Download the signed WorkMonitor build, sign in, and grant two macOS permissions to get this Mac tracking your work.

Who this is for

Anyone who needs WorkMonitor running on their own Mac. There's no permission gate on the download screen. Any signed-in member can reach it and enroll their own machine.

Before you start

You need your WorkMonitor work email and password. If your admin gave you an enrollment token instead, you can use that in place of signing in.
macOS will ask you to approve two permissions partway through setup: Screen Recording and Accessibility. Nothing is captured until you grant both.

Steps

In the sidebar, select Get the agent.
Check the build selected under Install on another OS. WorkMonitor detects your Mac and shows a Detected badge (for example, "you're on macOS · Apple silicon"); if it guessed wrong, select the other chip yourself: macOS · Apple silicon or macOS · Intel.
Select Download for macOS · Apple silicon (or · Intel). The version, file size, and whether the build is Code-signed & notarized show underneath the button.
Open the downloaded file and launch WorkMonitor.
Click through the short intro (Begin, then Next), which explains the menu-bar indicator that stays visible the whole time you're tracked.
On Connect this Mac, enter your Work email and Password, then select Sign in & connect. Signing in registers this Mac to you automatically. There's nothing to copy across. (Given a token instead? Select Use an enrollment token instead and paste it into the Enrollment token field.)
On Finish setup, select Allow next to Screen Recording, then Allow next to Accessibility. macOS shows its own confirmation dialog each time. Approve both.
Once both rows read On, select Start tracking.

What happens next

WorkMonitor drops to the menu bar and opens its live panel, showing a running timer and today's stats. It keeps running quietly in the menu bar from here. Quitting it is a separate, deliberate action from the tray's right-click menu, not something setup does for you.

If it doesn't work

If your workspace hasn't published a signed macOS build yet, the download button is replaced by a panel that reads: "The signed macOS installer isn't published to this workspace yet. Once it's out you'll just download and sign in. Need it today? Build from source below." The build-from-source path lives in the page's Advanced section, further down the same screen.
If Screen Recording still shows as needing permission after you select Allow, quit WorkMonitor (right-click the menu-bar icon and select Quit WorkMonitor), then reopen it. Screen Recording only takes effect after a relaunch.
Signing in can fail with "Invalid email or password.", "This account can't add a device here.", or "Couldn't reach the workspace. Check the API URL and your connection." Each points at what to check first.
