Will WorkMonitor slow my computer down?

No. WorkMonitor isn't a screen recorder or a video call. It's a small native background app that takes occasional screenshots instead of continuously capturing your screen, and reads lightweight system signals for everything else.

What this means for you

• On macOS it's a native menu-bar app, not a heavyweight wrapped browser. On Linux it's described as a tiny binary with no runtime to carry around.
• It doesn't record video and doesn't stream your screen to anyone. Screenshots are taken periodically (at a rate your workspace sets, visible in the app's own Screenshot rate setting), not continuously.
• Idle time and the app you have in the foreground are read from ordinary, cheap operating-system signals, the same kind of information any well-behaved background app checks.
• Keystrokes and clicks are counted, not logged. WorkMonitor never records which keys were pressed or what was typed, only how much input happened, which is a lightweight number rather than a stream of data.
• We don't publish CPU or memory benchmarks for the agent, so we won't give you a number we can't stand behind. What we can tell you is what it actually does: no continuous recording, no constant heavy scanning. The heaviest single thing it does, a screenshot, happens at your workspace's own rate, not nonstop.
