Why is an app marked unproductive?

Because either your organisation classified it that way, or WorkMonitor's shared default did. Your own classification always wins, so check App categories to see which one it is.

What this means for you

Apps and websites are grouped into categories and marked productive, neutral or unproductive. WorkMonitor ships sensible defaults, but your own classification always wins, and once someone in your organisation classifies an app, a later update to our defaults will not overwrite that decision. Anything nobody has classified stays neutral and is labelled unknown, so an app we don't recognise is never held against anyone. Names are matched regardless of capitalisation, and websites are matched by domain, so classifying a domain once covers its subdomains.

How to check for yourself

Open App categories and find the app's row in the Catalogue table. The Source badge tells you which case you're looking at: System means WorkMonitor's own default is still in effect; Override means someone in your organisation set it explicitly. Either way, a manager or owner can change the Productivity column right there. The new value saves immediately and becomes your organisation's override.
