Productivity score
Each tracked day gets a single score from 0 to 100.
Who this is for
Everyone. You always have access to an explanation of your own score; a manager or owner can open the same explanation for a teammate from that person's page, which needs the permission that lets a role read the team roster. The default Manager role has it.
What you'll see
It describes the shape of the day: how engaged you were while you were at the keyboard, how much of your working time went to work and meetings, and how the apps you were using were classified. It is a wellbeing-aware heuristic, not a verdict on a person, and it should never be the only basis for a decision about someone's employment.
On your own side, the page titled What We See carries a panel headed "Why your score is what it is," described as *"Each signal's contribution to your composite score, visible only to you. Nothing here is a verdict."* Arrows step you to the Previous day or Next day (next is disabled once you're on today), with a Today shortcut back once you've moved off it.
A manager or owner opens the equivalent panel from a teammate's own page: the same explanation, described there as *"How this member's composite score was built for the day, the same honest explanation they see."*
Open the breakdown to see what produced the number: Activity level, Focus and App quality each show what they contributed that day, and the contributions add up to the score. If a signal wasn't captured that day, it's shown as off and not counted rather than as a bad result. Each row also shows the points that signal added, the share it counted for that day, and a short plain-language reason next to it.
Meetings count as work. Idle time, a stretch with no keyboard or mouse input at all, is not scored: it is not in the total your Focus share is measured against, it is not averaged into your Activity level, and whatever app was on screen while you were away is not in your App quality mix. On a day scored that way, lengthening the time you were away from your desk changes none of the three. A person who takes a lunch break is not less productive for having eaten. A brief pause is not idle, though: it stays inside your working time, counted as part of the stretch you worked through, and is never a deduction on top of that. An app nobody has classified counts as neutral, never against the person. And when your organisation has switched a capability off, or someone hasn't consented to it, the missing signal is shown as "not counted". It never scores as a zero.
Two kinds of day are not scored that way, and Why is my productivity score lower than I expected? goes through both. A day scored before this rule changed, when away-from-keyboard time counted in all three signals, was left as recorded rather than rewritten to match the new rule, so the number stored against it can sit below what the same day would score today. And once a day is old enough that your organisation's retention setting has deleted its minute-by-minute record, only the daily totals are left: Focus is still measured the same way, but Activity level and App quality can then only be averaged over the whole tracked day, time away included.
On your own page, if there's a real score to explain, you'll also see: *"Think this number doesn't reflect your day?"* and a Dispute this score button.
What happens next
The score is calculated on WorkMonitor's servers from the events already stored for that day, so a modified or tampered agent can't assert its own number. The weightings are fixed for every customer: they aren't tunable, and no one can quietly change how your team is scored. Stepping to a different day reloads the explanation for that date without leaving the page.
If it doesn't work
- If there's nothing to explain yet, you'll see "No score to explain for this day yet": *"A score is only shown once there's activity to explain. There's no zero here. An empty day is not a bad day, it's simply no data."*
- If it fails to load, you'll see an error banner in its place, reading *"The breakdown is unavailable right now."* (or, if your session is the problem, *"Your session may have expired. Try signing in again."*), with a Retry button.
- A manager who doesn't hold the permission that reads the team roster can't open a teammate's explanation at all.
