What WorkMonitor does

WorkMonitor proves that work happened by capturing a defined, visible set of activity signals from a desktop agent and browser extension, never keystrokes, message content, or anything from a webcam or microphone.

Who this is for

Everyone in your workspace. Any signed-in member can see what your organization currently captures on the Controls screen and can see their own record on What We See, though only an owner, or a manager who's been granted the permission that manages capture policy, can turn a signal on or off for the whole organization.

Steps

  1. Open Controls to see exactly which capture signals your organization currently has switched on and off.
  2. Open What We See to see your own record: the actual signals kept about you, not just what's possible.
  3. Before you install anything, read Install the agent so you know what the desktop agent and browser extension each report.

What happens next

WorkMonitor can capture six kinds of signal, and your organization decides which ones are on:

  • Screenshots: periodic screenshots of a member's screen during active work sessions.
  • Active App & Window: the name of the app or window in focus, showing the window title only, never its contents.
  • Activity Level: a coarse keyboard-and-mouse activity level per member. Individual keystrokes are never recorded.
  • Idle Detection: detects when a device goes idle so away-from-keyboard time is measured accurately.
  • Integrity / anti-cheat scan: can raise a signal when recorded activity looks automated rather than human, or when a known automation tool (a mouse jiggler or an auto-clicker, for example) is running on the device.
  • Removable-media, transfer & print signals: records that removable storage was mounted, a bulk file transfer happened, or a print job ran, along with counts and a destination type. Filenames, document titles, and file contents are never recorded.

Three of these (Screenshots, the integrity scan, and the removable-media/transfer/print signals) also need each person's own consent before anything is captured, even once your organization has switched them on. The removable-media/transfer/print signals start switched off for every new workspace; an owner or manager has to turn them on deliberately.

Whatever your organization has captures turned off, the desktop agent and browser extension stop sending it going forward. And at every level, webcam and microphone are never captured. That isn't a setting you can turn on, because the capability doesn't exist in WorkMonitor.

If it doesn't work

  • If Controls won't load, you'll see "Couldn't load your controls" with a Retry option.
  • If a capability change doesn't save, the toast reads "Change not saved" with the server's own message, or "Your session may have expired. Try signing in again."
  • If What We See won't load, you'll see "Couldn't load your transparency panel" or "Couldn't load your evidence mode," each with a Retry option.
