Manage a teammate
Open a teammate's page to update their identity, employment, pay, hour limits, roles, and tracking settings in one place.
Who this is for
Saving changes here (name, employment type, pay, hour limits, and role grants) needs the same permission as adding people ("Invite, edit & remove people"), which the default Manager role doesn't include; in practice this is owner-only, and the page says so. A manager can still open a teammate's page and turn Tracking settings on or off for that person, since that one control runs on a separate permission the default Manager role does hold.
Steps
- From Team, select the person's name or avatar to open their page. The header shows whether they're Active or Suspended, and a View activity link jumps to their day.
- Under Identity, update their Photo URL, Full name, Job title, or Timezone. Their Email is shown but can't be changed here. No screen changes a teammate's email.
- Under Employment, set Type to Employee or Contractor, and set Status to Active or Suspended to reactivate or suspend them.
- Under Compensation, set their Pay rate (per hour) and Currency.
- Under Time limits & tracker, set a Weekly limit (hours) and Monthly limit (hours) (leave either blank for no limit), how many idle minutes before the tracker auto-pauses, and whether to allow adding offline / manual work.
- Under Roles, select a role to grant it, and optionally scope it to one department or team instead of leaving it Org-wide.
- Under Tracking settings, turn any capture feature on or off for this person. This applies immediately, not with the save button.
- Select Save changes.
What happens next
Saving takes effect immediately: the change is reflected on this page and on the Team roster right away, and the save bar briefly shows Saved ✓. Tracking-setting toggles apply the moment you switch them, independently of Save changes. There's no separate confirmation, so if one doesn't seem to have taken, refresh the page to check.
If it doesn't work
- If you don't have access to this page at all, you'll see "Editing employees is owner-only", *"Salary, roles and tracking settings are sensitive. Ask an owner to make changes."*
- If you can view the page but lack the permission to save, saving fails with the general message *"Your session may have expired, or you don't have access to this."*
- If the record fails to load for another reason, you'll see "Couldn't load this member" with the server's message and a Retry button.
