Invoices and payment

See your next charge at a glance, then hand off to the secure Stripe portal for your card, past invoices, and billing details. WorkMonitor never stores your card itself.

Who this is for

Owners only, by default. Viewing either tab needs the same permission as the rest of Billing; actually opening the billing portal needs the stricter of the two billing permissions, the one that also lets someone change the plan. Neither is in the default Manager role, so both come down to Owner out of the box.

Before you start

Open Billing (Settings → Billing & plan), then select the Invoices or Payment tab.

What you'll see

Invoices: if you've never been on a paid plan, you'll see "No invoices yet": *"You're not on a paid subscription, so nothing has been billed. Choose a paid plan to start invoicing. Every charge will appear here and in your secure Stripe portal."* Once you're billed, you'll see the next invoice's amount and date (labelled Next invoice, or Final invoice if your plan is set to cancel), an Open billing portal button, an Upcoming row for that charge, and a note: *"Paid invoices and receipts live in the secure billing portal. WorkMonitor never stores your card."* with an Open the portal link to download the full history.

Payment: a Payment method panel shows Card on file, with a note that your card is held securely by Stripe and updated in the billing portal, plus a Manage in portal button; or, on the free plan, No card on file, with a note that you add one at checkout when you choose a paid plan. Below it, a Billing details panel notes that the legal entity, billing email, and VAT / Tax ID shown on your invoices are managed in the same portal, with an Edit billing details button once you're billed.

What happens next

Selecting Open billing portal, Manage in portal, or Edit billing details all hand off to Stripe's own hosted billing portal. That's where you actually update your card, download an invoice, or edit your billing details. WorkMonitor's own screens only ever show you a summary.

If it doesn't work

  • If you don't have access to Billing, you'll see "Your plan is owner-only": *"The subscription and what it costs are an owner's concern. Ask an owner if you need to see or change the plan."*
  • If opening the billing portal fails, you'll see the server's message, or "Couldn't open the billing portal. Try again."
