Invoices
Invoices lists every bill your organization has drafted or issued, its status, and how much of it is still outstanding.
Who this is for
Owners only by default. Invoicing needs the permission that reads (or manages) billing, and no role below Owner carries either one by default. A manager's permission to manage clients and projects deliberately doesn't extend to reading bills. Without it, the page shows "Invoicing is restricted to owners", *"Issuing a numbered bill and marking it paid is a different authority from shaping the billable work. Ask an owner if you need billing access."*
What you'll see
- A New invoice button that starts the invoice-creation flow.
- Filters for Status (All statuses, Draft, Finalized, Sent, Paid, Void) and Client (All clients, or a specific one).
- A table of every matching invoice: Number, Client, Status, Issued, Due and Total, plus Outstanding. A draft's number reads ". " until it's finalized, since the numbered sequence is only claimed at that point.
- Each row's status is a colored badge: Draft, Finalized, Sent, Paid or Void. An overdue row also carries a red "{n}d overdue" chip.
- The Outstanding column reads ": " for a draft or a void invoice (neither owes anything), "Credit" when an invoice has been paid more than its total, "Settled" once it's fully paid, or the amount still owed, in red when the invoice is overdue.
- If client names can't be looked up, a row still shows, with the client's id in place of its name rather than breaking.
What happens next
Selecting an invoice's number or client name opens that invoice's own page, where it moves through its life (draft, finalized, sent, paid, or void) with the actions available at each stage. Selecting New invoice starts a new one.
If it doesn't work
- Without billing access, the whole page shows "Invoicing is restricted to owners" (as above). If it's your organization's plan rather than your role, you'll see "Upgrade to unlock this" naming Invoicing instead, with a See plans & upgrade button.
- "Couldn't load invoices": the list failed to load; retry from the button shown.
- "No invoices yet" (*"Bill a client's approved time over a period, or raise a fixed-fee invoice with manual lines."*) with a New invoice button.
- "No invoices match" (*"Try widening the filters above."*) when your filters exclude everything.
